TN Govt decides to rename Velachery–Tambaram Road in Chennai to Major Mukund Varadarajan Salai

In a poignant tribute to the valour and ultimate sacrifice of Indian Army officer Major Mukund Varadarajan, the Tamil Nadu Government has officially announced the renaming of the prominent Velachery–Tambaram Road in Chennai. Moving forward, the arterial route will be known as Major Mukund Varadarajan Salai.
Major Varadarajan made the ultimate sacrifice while spearheading counter-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir, a heroic act that posthumously earned him the Ashoka Chakra for exceptional bravery. By renaming this vital stretch of Chennai's infrastructure, the state administration aims to pay lasting respect to his dedication to the nation, ensuring his legacy inspires generations to come.
