Tiruvallur horror: Man tries to abduct 10-year-old girl, drags her towards bushes; caught on CCTV | VIDEO

Tiruvallur: A horrifying attempt to abduct and sexually assault a 10-year-old girl in broad daylight has sparked outrage after CCTV footage of the incident emerged online.
The incident occurred on Saturday, 12 July, near Gummidipoondi in Tiruvallur district. The girl, a Class 4 student, was walking home from school when a man began following her and attempted to drag her into nearby bushes.
Thankfully, the child managed to escape by shouting for help, and the attacker fled. She later informed her grandmother, who filed a complaint with the Arambakkam Police.
CCTV footage goes viral
Video footage from a nearby camera shows the suspect trailing the girl before grabbing her and trying to pull her away. The disturbing clip has since gone viral on social media, drawing attention from political leaders and child rights groups.
Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai shared the video on X (formerly Twitter) and criticised the police over the delay in arresting the suspect.
“It is deeply distressing that even after five days since the crime, the culprit has not yet been arrested,” he wrote. “The fact that such criminals, who engage in sexual offences without regard for the victim being a minor, are freely roaming shows how dangerous the environment society is in.”
Police launch manhunt
Police have formed special teams to identify and apprehend the suspect. Officials confirmed that they are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and speaking with residents to gather leads.
So far, no arrest has been made.
