TN MP's gold chain snatched in Delhi's high-security zone; injured, flags issue with Home Ministry

New Delhi: Mayiladuthurai MP R Sudha's gold chain was snatched by unidentified persons in the diplomatic enclave of Chanakyapuri here while she was out on a morning walk on Monday, police said.

Sudha, who is currently staying at Tamil Nadu Bhavan, reported that her gold chain was snatched by unidentified individuals who fled the scene immediately after the act. The incident occurred despite Chanakyapuri being one of the most secured areas in the capital, home to several foreign embassies and official residences of state governments.

The MP has since written to the Union Home Ministry regarding the incident.

"A case has been registered and an investigation is underway," said a senior police official. "Multiple teams have been assigned to trace the culprits and are currently analysing CCTV footage from the area."

In addition to reviewing surveillance footage, police are questioning potential eyewitnesses and checking for any suspicious activity in the vicinity during the time of the incident. Security around Tamil Nadu Bhavan and surrounding stretches has been heightened following the theft.
