Travel warning: Dense morning fog forecast for Chennai and northern TN districts till February 14

Chennai: Chennai and several northern districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to experience dense morning fog over the next few days, with the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) forecasting misty conditions until February 14.
According to the weather bulletin, districts including Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu are expected to witness heavy fog during early morning hours, which could reduce visibility and disrupt traffic, particularly during peak commuting times.
Authorities have advised motorists to drive cautiously in fog-prone areas.
Moderate fog is also forecast on Wednesday and Thursday in districts such as Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri and Dindigul, where visibility may be reduced along highways, rural roads and low-lying areas.
Light fog conditions are expected in Salem, Erode and Namakkal, as well as other northern districts, which may cause minor inconvenience to early morning commuters and agricultural activities.
Meanwhile, the weather department has predicted light to moderate rainfall in southern Tamil Nadu and the Cauvery delta districts. The showers are expected to benefit farmers by improving soil moisture levels in agricultural regions.
Temperatures across Tamil Nadu are forecast to rise gradually over the coming days. Despite isolated rainfall, most parts of Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry are likely to experience largely dry weather.
Residents have been advised to stay updated with daily weather forecasts and plan travel accordingly, as authorities continue to monitor changing weather conditions.
