Thiruvananthapuram: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has assured Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan that his government will consider exempting Kerala from recent curbs on inter-state movement of construction materials, including crushed metal and stone aggregates.

The assurance came during a bilateral discussion on the sidelines of the Southern Zonal Council meeting at Mahabalipuram.

Satheesan raised concerns regarding the supply disruptions caused by Tamil Nadu's recent regulatory notification. Pointing out Kerala's heavy reliance on neighboring Tamil Nadu districts, particularly Tirunelveli, Tenkasi and Kanniyakumari, for raw materials required in major infrastructure and National Highway projects, Satheesan urged the Tamil Nadu government to grant a special exemption.

Both Chief Ministers agreed to pursue further official discussions to reach an amicable decision swiftly.
