Suspected ISIS terrorist held in Ranchi; multiple arrests in Delhi, other areas

Ranchi: In a joint operation by Delhi Police Special Cell, Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and Ranchi Police, two suspected ISIS terrorists were arrested on Wednesday, according to Delhi Police.
The arrested individual, identified as Danish, a native of Petarwar in Bokaro district, had been on the radar of security agencies for a long time. The joint team swooped down on Tabarak Lodge in Islamnagar, where he had been staying in hiding.
The police recovered weapons, chemicals suspected to be used for making explosives, and several electronic devices, including laptops and mobile phones.
Another suspect was arrested from Delhi, confirmed Delhi Police.
Delhi Police Special Cell said, "Some arrests have been made by Delhi Police Special Cell in an ongoing operation."
The raids are going on in collaboration with the Special Cell's central agencies at eight places, and so far, more than eight suspects have been detained. They are being questioned by the Delhi Police. The operation is still going on at different places.
"The joint operation of Delhi and Jharkhand police is being conducted at several places, including a hostel in Ranchi. Some people linked to terrorist organisations have been detained, and interrogation is going on," Jharkhand Police IG (Operations) and spokesperson Michael Raj S told PTI.
According to officials, preliminary investigation suggests that Danish was actively preparing for a major conspiracy. His movements were being closely monitored in connection with a case already registered against him in Delhi.
Following his arrest, Delhi Police will seek his remand to interrogate him further in the national capital.
The crackdown did not stop in Ranchi alone. The joint team also carried out raids in the Palamu district of Jharkhand, detaining another suspect for questioning.
