Satellite beams turned off over India: Elon Musk denies Starlink being used in Manipur

Imphal: SpaceX founder Elon Musk responded to allegations that Starlink satellite devices were being used in Manipur, where security forces recently seized internet equipment alongside weapons.
The Indian Army's Spear Corps shared photos of the seized items on X, where social media users noticed a device with a "Starlink logo." One user commented, "Starlink is being used by terrorists. Hope, Elon Musk looks into it and helps control misuse of this technology."
Musk quickly dismissed the claim, stating, "This is false. Starlink satellite beams are turned off over India."
The seized items, found in a raid in Keirao Khunou in Imphal East district, included a satellite antenna, a router, and approximately 20 meters of FTP cables, according to local police. The discovery of a Starlink-like device has prompted an investigation into how it ended up in the conflict-ridden region.
Starlink, which provides satellite internet services, does not have a license to operate in India.
Since May of last year, ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo groups in Manipur has led to over 250 deaths and left thousands homeless.
