Family of Meghalaya honeymoon murder victim welcomes baby boy, calls it ‘Raja’s return’

Indore: The family of Raja Raghuvanshi, who was allegedly killed by his wife during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, has welcomed the birth of a baby boy. The family believes the child symbolises Raja’s return, calling the moment deeply emotional and spiritually significant.

According to the family, Raja was killed on the eleventh day of a lunar fortnight. Nine months later, on the same date and at nearly the same time, his elder brother Sachin Raghuvanshi and his wife welcomed a son.

Raja’s brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, described the timing as more than coincidence, calling it a divine sign. “God has sent Raja back to us,” he said.

The baby was born on Sunday and brought home the following evening. The family marked the occasion with celebrations, decorating their house and placing a sign at the entrance that read “Raja Is Back”.

The newborn and his mother were later received in a decorated car, as relatives gathered to celebrate what they described as a moment filled with joy, emotion and a sense of divine blessing.

Background: The honeymoon murder case

The developments come in the backdrop of a shocking case involving Raja’s wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, aged 24, who was arrested in connection with his alleged murder during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, just days after their wedding.

The case took a dramatic turn after Sonam surrendered in Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh, days after Raja’s body was recovered on 2 June.

The incident first came to light when the couple was reported missing on 23 May, with their families alleging that the Meghalaya Police had not taken adequate steps to trace them.

Sonam later surfaced at a roadside eatery in Ghazipur, leading to swift police action. She was taken into custody, and investigators subsequently alleged that she had hired a group of men to carry out the killing.

Multi-state investigation

The investigation involved coordinated efforts by police teams from Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, as authorities worked to piece together the details of what has been described as a honeymoon murder case.
