‘Tata is being criminally destroyed’: Rahul Gandhi targets PM Modi, Shah over corporate feud

New Delhi: The Tata Group is being "criminally destroyed" while business leaders refrain from speaking out, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged on Wednesday, declaring that "we will ensure justice for these crimes".
Gandhi's comments come amid an escalating leadership dispute within Tata Sons. The internal rift has divided trustees and extended into the board meetings of the holding company of India's largest corporate conglomerate.
Earlier this week, Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata challenged a resolution reappointing N. Chandrasekaran as Chairman of Tata Sons, which had been approved during a September 17 board meeting of the holding company.
In a statement posted on X, Gandhi wrote: "Tata is being criminally destroyed, and no business leader dares say a word. How long will you stay silent? Until they own you?"
The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha further asserted that Indian commerce is not the "plaything" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
"You lack courage. We don't. We will ensure justice for these crimes," Gandhi said.
Neither the Indian government nor the Tata Group issued an immediate response to Gandhi's assertions.
