Rahul Gandhi detained after 8-hour sit-in; visuals show him resisting detention

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were detained on Tuesday night after an over eight-hour protest inside Akashvani Bhawan in Delhi, following the police action that stopped opposition MPs from marching to the Election Commission office.
Rahul Gandhi was among the Congress leaders removed from the All India Radio (AIR) premises after police cleared the site of protesting MPs. Congress leaders detained along with him included K C Venugopal, Pawan Khera, K Suresh, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Imran Pratapgarhi.
Visuals from the protest also showed Rahul Gandhi appearing to try to climb out through a window as police moved to clear the premises.
The Congress protest began after police prevented opposition MPs from proceeding towards the Election Commission office, located around 300 metres away.
Rahul Gandhi then entered the Akashvani Bhawan premises and began a sit-in, with Congress MPs and other leaders joining the protest.
The demonstration was linked to the Opposition's "vote chori" allegations and its attempt to march to the Election Commission.
The sit-in continued for more than eight hours before police moved in to clear the premises and detain the protesting leaders.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was also detained after joining the protest.
Police forcibly removed Rahul Gandhi and several Congress MPs from the AIR premises as the demonstration came to an end.
