Protests erupt in Jammu and Kashmir over killing of Iran’s Khamenei | WATCH

Srinagar: Protests broke out in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday after Iranian state media confirmed the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a joint air strike carried out by the United States and Israel.
Demonstrations were reported from Srinagar, Sonawari and Bandipora, where members of the Shia community gathered to express grief and anger over the killing. Men and women took to the streets carrying photographs of Khamenei and raising slogans condemning the strike.
In Srinagar, protests were witnessed in areas including Saida Kadal and Lal Chowk, with groups assembling to denounce the attack.
Similar scenes unfolded in Sonawari and Bandipora, where demonstrators marched through localities in solidarity with Iran’s leadership.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) condemned the killing and postponed all political programmes scheduled for Sunday as a mark of respect. A party spokesperson described the air strike as inhuman and barbaric. PCC president Tariq Hameed Karra led party members in expressing profound grief over the development.
Authorities kept a close watch on the situation as protests unfolded across different districts.
