What’s inside Prashant Kishor’s election affidavit? Assets, properties and liabilities explained

Patna: Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor, who is set to contest the Bankipur Assembly bypoll in Bihar, has declared assets worth nearly Rs 96 crore, while the combined wealth of him and his wife exceeds Rs 197 crore, according to the election affidavit submitted with his nomination papers.

As per the affidavit, Kishor owns movable assets worth Rs 22.19 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 73.87 crore, taking the total value of assets in his name to around Rs 96 crore.

His wife, Dr Jahnavi Das, a medical practitioner and Senior Advisor (Special Projects) at Apollo Indraprastha Hospital, has declared movable assets worth Rs 89.51 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 12.42 crore, bringing her total declared wealth to Rs 101.93 crore.

Together, the couple's declared assets are valued at more than Rs 197 crore.

Properties and liabilities

According to the affidavit, Kishor owns two flats in Ghaziabad, holds a 50 per cent share in two additional flats, and owns plots in Pataliputra Colony in Patna, Vasant Vihar in Delhi, Buxar, and his ancestral village.

Dr Das has declared ownership of two flats, a one-third stake in a bungalow in Guwahati, and another property in Noida.

The affidavit also states that Kishor has an outstanding bank loan of Rs 5.77 crore, while his wife has liabilities of Rs 55.38 lakh, including a personal loan of Rs 50 lakh.

Their son, Daibik, has a bank account balance of Rs 7.19 lakh, the affidavit shows.

Company ownership

Kishor has also declared ownership of Vedha Venture Private Limited, a company that donated Rs 85 crore to the Jan Suraaj Party during the 2024–25 financial year.

Criminal cases

The affidavit states that Kishor has eight criminal cases pending against him at various police stations and courts, including those linked to Gandhi Maidan, Secretariat, Pirbahore, Saharsa Sadar, Bettiah, and West Muzaffarpur.

However, charges have not yet been framed in any of the cases, and he has not been convicted in any matter. The affidavit also notes that he has moved the Patna High Court in connection with some of the cases.

Educational qualifications

Kishor has declared the following educational qualifications:

* Matriculation from Government School, Buxar (1991)

* Intermediate from Patna Science College (1993)

* Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Lucknow University (1996–1999)

* Master of Hospital Administration (MHA) from the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), Hyderabad (2001–2003)

* French language course from the University of Clermont-Ferrand, France (2010)

In the affidavit, Kishor has described his profession as that of a political consultant and adviser. He has also stated that he was previously associated with the United Nations (UN) before entering active politics.
