AAP's Saurabh Bharadwaj accuses Police of stopping voters in Chirag Delhi

New Delhi: AAP candidate from Greater Kailash, Saurabh Bharadwaj, has accused the Delhi Police of obstructing voters at a polling station in Chirag Delhi. He alleged that police barricades were deliberately placed to discourage people from voting, particularly in areas considered strongholds of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Bharadwaj confronted police officials at the site, questioning the reason behind the barricades.

"You have been standing here since morning to influence the elections. Why are the barricades being put up? Which senior officer of the Delhi Police has instructed them to do so? This is all being done to disturb the poor villagers. Malviya Nagar ACP and SHO are openly doing this wherever there is a stronghold of AAP. The SHO even raided our private premises last night," he said.

He further alleged that Malviya Nagar ACP and SHO were carrying out these actions to disrupt voting in AAP-dominated areas.

He also claimed that police raided an AAP office the night before the election. "Over 21,000 people vote here, and the police are creating hurdles at all 17-18 polling booths in Chirag Delhi. People are unable to reach the polling stations via metro or road," he alleged. Bharadwaj further questioned why Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva or President Droupadi Murmu were not required to step out of their cars 200 meters away from polling booths, insisting that there were no official guidelines mandating such restrictions.

Polling for 70 assembly seats began on Wednesday in Delhi, as voters cast their ballots amid tight security. Voting commenced at 7:00 am and will continue until 6:00 pm.
