PM Modi urges NDA MPs to prioritise nation, follow parliamentary rules: Kiren Rijiju

New Delhi: Following the NDA Parliamentary party meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instructed all NDA MPs to strictly follow parliamentary rules. PM Modi also gave a mantra that highlighted the importance of prioritising service to the nation, stating that every MP is elected to serve the country regardless of their party affiliation.

“PM gave us a mantra which is very important…He said that every MP has been elected to the House to serve the nation. Irrespective of the party they belong to, service to the nation is our first responsibility” Rijiju said.

The Prime Minister provided guidance on the conduct of MPs, advising them to effectively present issues from their constituencies within the House and to develop expertise in key areas such as water, environment, and social issues. Rijiju added that this advice was beneficial for all particularly first-time MPs.

The meeting was convened ahead of the Parliament Session proceedings, during which party leaders felicitated PM Modi on his historic third term. PM Modi is scheduled to address the Lok Sabha at 4 pm. 

Prominent figures, including BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Ministers, and other MPs, attended the meeting at the GMC Balayogi Auditorium of the Parliament Library Building (PLB). This was Narendra Modi’s first speech to the ruling bloc MPs during the first session of Parliament since assuming office for a third consecutive term.

In the recent Lok Sabha elections, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a third term, winning 293 seats. The BJP alone won 240 seats, a drop from their 2019 tally of 303. The Congress secured 99 seats, while the opposition INDIA bloc won 234 seats.
