PM Modi greets nation on Diwali; reaffirms tradition of celebrating with soldiers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, November 7, extended Diwali greetings to people across the country, wishing them happiness, peace, prosperity and well-being.
Reaffirming his annual tradition of celebrating the festival with India's armed forces personnel, Modi said he would once again spend Diwali with soldiers guarding the country's borders.
In a video message shared on social media, the Prime Minister described Diwali as a festival that represents the victory of light over darkness and reflects the country's determination to overcome negativity.
He also urged citizens to embrace positivity, spread kindness and work towards a brighter future.
‘On the occasion of Diwali, the entire country is illuminated. The festival of lights symbolises our pledge against darkness,’ Modi said in his message.
Wishing the people of India on the occasion, he expressed hope that the festival would bring happiness, peace, well-being and prosperity to every household.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of togetherness and the country's cultural traditions, encouraging people to move forward with renewed energy and determination.
PM Modi To Celebrate Diwali With Armed Forces
A key part of Modi's Diwali message was his confirmation that he would continue his tradition of spending the festival with personnel of the Indian Armed Forces.
‘Like every year, I will again be celebrating Diwali with our brave defence personnel,’ he said.
Since he assumed office in 2014, the Prime Minister's visits to military establishments and forward locations during Diwali have become a regular feature. Through these visits, he has sought to acknowledge the sacrifices made by soldiers who remain stationed away from their families, often in challenging geographical and weather conditions.
Although Modi has not disclosed the location of this year's celebrations in his latest message, his announcement has once again brought attention to the armed forces and their role in safeguarding the country.
Over the years, the Prime Minister has celebrated Diwali with troops at several strategically significant locations, including Siachen, Gurez, Harsil, Rajouri, Longewala, Nowshera, Kargil and Lepcha.
He celebrated Diwali 2025 aboard India's indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, where he interacted with armed forces personnel.
The tradition also gives the Prime Minister an opportunity to interact directly with military personnel, acknowledge their contribution, and convey the government's appreciation for their service.
Modi's Diwali Message Focuses On Viksit Bharat
Beyond festive wishes, Modi's message also carried a broader appeal for nation-building.
He encouraged citizens to use the festive occasion to strengthen social bonds, spread goodwill, and contribute to India's development.
In a separate message shared through the government's Jan Sampark Portal, the Prime Minister described Diwali as a celebration of goodness's victory over evil and hope over despair.
He also called on people to work with renewed determination to build a prosperous and developed India, reiterating his vision of 'Viksit Bharat'.
Earlier, Modi had also met Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan at Uprashtrapati Bhawan and exchanged Diwali greetings.
As the country prepares to celebrate the festival of lights, the Prime Minister's announcement about spending the occasion with soldiers once again places the spotlight on military personnel who remain on duty while millions of Indians celebrate with their families.
