Patna: In a chilling incident that has rattled Patna, gunfire erupted inside Paras Hospital, one of the city’s prominent private healthcare centres. The shooting took place on the hospital’s second floor, creating panic among patients and staff. According to police, the incident is suspected to be the fallout of a gang rivalry.

The target was Chandan Mishra, a convicted murderer who was out on 15-day parole from Beur Jail. His parole was set to expire on July 18. Mishra, who is serving a life sentence, was undergoing treatment at the hospital when four armed assailants entered and opened fire.

Initial investigations suggest the attackers may have had inside help. CCTV footage is being examined, and the possible involvement of hospital security personnel is under scrutiny.

Police sources confirmed that the incident is being treated as a gang war. The shootout has once again raised concerns about the state’s law and order, particularly the safety of public institutions like hospitals. The hospital is located barely five kilometres from the Bihar Chief Minister’s residence, intensifying public scrutiny over security arrangements in the capital.

Authorities have stepped up the manhunt for the assailants, and further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
