Horrifying CCTV shows Pit Bull attacking Patiala couple; Property dealer seen hiding | VIDEO

Patiala: A CCTV video showing a couple being brutally attacked by a pet Pit Bull in Patiala's Ghuman Nagar has surfaced on social media, capturing the terrifying moments as the dog repeatedly mauls the two victims.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening when Patiala residents Ankit Sabharwal and his wife Shifali went to Ghuman Nagar to inspect a house for rent. They had reportedly been called to see the property and were accompanied by a property dealer.

According to Ankit, the attack began as soon as the gate was opened. The Pit Bull suddenly rushed out and attacked his wife.

The CCTV footage shows the couple standing near the entrance when the dog charges at them. The attack appears to happen without any visible provocation from the couple, who can be seen trying to move away as the dog continues to attack.

The footage also shows the property dealer struggling to respond during the initial moments of the attack and appearing to take cover, while the couple is left facing the aggressive dog.

A woman is later seen emerging from the house with a stick in an attempt to drive the dog away. When that fails, two or three more people arrive carrying sticks and try to restrain the animal. They eventually manage to pull the injured couple away from the dog.

Wife undergoes surgery, husband receives stitches

Ankit said he suffered deep bite injuries to his legs, back and other parts of his body while trying to save his wife. He said he received stitches across his body.

His wife sustained severe injuries to her arms and legs and underwent surgery. She is currently under observation following the procedure.

Speaking to ANI, Ankit said, "I was going to see a house, along with my wife. I was called to see the property for rent. As soon as we reached there and opened the latch on the gate, the dog attacked us. My wife and I were injured. I have received stitches all over my body. My wife has undergone surgery on her arms and legs. I want justice."

He further alleged that the dog did not stop even after its owner ordered it to do so. "The dog did not stop even after being ordered by its owner. My wife is under observation after surgery," he said.

Ankit said police have been informed about the incident and sought action against those responsible for allegedly allowing the dog to roam freely.

Patiala mayor announces possible ban on aggressive dog breeds

The attack has also prompted a response from Patiala Mayor Kundan Gogia. Speaking to PTI, Gogia said keeping aggressive dog breeds as pets would be banned in the city.

He said the matter would be discussed at a House meeting of the municipal corporation, where a special resolution would be considered in this regard.
