New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday took a sharp dig at the Opposition, calling their demand for a debate on Operation Sindoor a major blunder. “They got thrashed badly... They shot themselves in the foot,” he reportedly said during a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) parliamentary party meeting, according to sources.

Mocking the Opposition’s decision to raise the issue in Parliament, PM Modi said they seemed “hell-bent on self-harm,” referring to last week’s fiery yet one-sided debate during the Monsoon Session. This was the second such NDA meeting since the new government took charge in June last year.

The NDA leaders also passed a resolution lauding Modi’s “exceptional leadership” during Operation Sindoor—a precise strike on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir launched on May 7, in response to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 that killed 26 people.

“His unwavering resolve, visionary statesmanship, and resolute command have not only steered the nation with purpose but also ignited a renewed spirit of unity and pride in the hearts of all Indians,” the NDA resolution read.

The MPs hailed the Indian armed forces for their “unmatched courage and unwavering commitment” during the operation, stating that their actions reflected a “zero tolerance towards terror” and a readiness to act if provoked.

The resolution also underlined that Operation Sindoor was “non-escalatory, precise and targeted” — reinforcing India’s commitment to peace while dismantling terrorist infrastructure when required.

The MPs further praised PM Modi for overseeing what they called one of India’s most comprehensive global outreach efforts after the operation. “Fifty-nine MPs from across parties visited 32 countries to present India’s viewpoint. The world must understand that a terror attack in any part of the world is a crime against all humanity,” the resolution stated.

As for the Opposition, PM Modi’s message was loud and clear: be careful what you wish for — you might just end up embarrassing yourselves.
