NIA raid in Kerala, other states in Pak-backed Gazwa-e-Hind module case, find links to suspects

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids across multiple states, including Kozhikode in Kerala, on Sunday, and seized incriminating documents and digital devices in connection with a Pakistan-backed Gazwa-e-Hind module case. 

The raids carried out in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Kerala (Kozhikode) revealed links between the suspects and Pakistan-based handlers. NIA seized mobile phones, SIM cards and several documents during the raids conducted as part of the case registered in Bihar.

The investigation began in July 2022 with the arrest of Marghoob Ahmad Danish, the administrator of a WhatsApp group named 'Ghazwa-e-Hind.' The group, created by a Pakistani national identified as Zain, had members from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Yemen.

Danish is accused of using the group to radicalize impressionable youth and recruit sleeper cells for carrying out terrorist activities across India. He had also created another WhatsApp group, 'BDGhazwa E HindBD,' specifically for Bangladeshi nationals.

The NIA has filed charges against Danish under sections 121, 121A, and 122 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 13, 18, 18B, and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. Investigations in the case are ongoing.
