New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency will file a charge sheet on Monday in the Pahalgam terror attack case, in which 26 people, most of them tourists, were killed by Pakistan-based terrorists, officials said.

The anti-terror agency will submit the charge sheet before a special NIA court in Jammu, they added.

What has the investigation revealed so far?

According to officials, investigations by the NIA found the direct involvement of three terrorists in the April 22 attack in Pahalgam.

The probe established that the assailants were Pakistan-based terrorists who carried out the deadly attack that claimed 26 lives.

Who was arrested in connection with the case?

In June, the NIA arrested two men for harbouring the three Pakistan-based terrorists. The terrorists were later killed by the armed forces in July.

The arrested men were identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar of Batkote and Bashir Ahmad Jothar of Pahalgam.

What did the arrested men disclose?

During questioning, the two men disclosed the identities of the three attackers. They told investigators that the assailants were Pakistani nationals linked to the banned terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.

NIA officials said the duo had provided food, shelter and logistical support to the terrorists.

What happened to the terrorists involved in the attack?

The three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in an encounter on July 28. The operation was code-named Operation Mahadev and took place on the outskirts of Srinagar.

Officials said the terrorists had been hiding in the Dachigam-Harwan forest belt since carrying out the Pahalgam attack.

How did India respond to the Pahalgam attack?

Following the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian armed forces carried out precision strikes on May 7 targeting terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The strikes were conducted under the name Operation Sindoor. According to officials, the operation targeted nine locations, including the headquarters and training centres of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.

They said these sites were being used to plan and direct terror attacks against India.
