Delhi hit-and-run case: Luxury car driver arrested after fatal accident in Jahangirpuri

New Delhi: A scooter rider was killed in a hit-and-run incident involving a Mercedes in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area, police confirmed on Tuesday.
The collision occurred on 5 July near the foot overbridge at the Jahangirpuri Bus Stand on the Outer Ring Road. Authorities arrived at the scene shortly after the incident to find the victim in a critical condition.
"He was rushed to the Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital, where doctors declared him dead," a police officer said. The deceased has been identified as Deepak, a resident of Mangolpuri.
Investigators identified the suspect after a member of the public reported a Mercedes with Haryana registration plates fleeing the scene. According to the police, a notice was served under Section 133 of the Motor Vehicles Act to the registered owner of the vehicle, who subsequently confirmed that the car was being driven by Ansh Pratap Singh at the time of the crash.
Singh has since been arrested. A case has been registered at the Jahangirpuri police station under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The luxury car has been impounded, and officers stated that an investigation is continuing to establish the precise circumstances of the fatal collision.
