Nine members of a family, including five children, were killed after their car fell into a water-filled well in Maharashtra’s Nashik district late Friday night.

The tragic incident took place around 10 pm near Shivajinagar in Dindori taluka. The victims, belonging to the Dargode family from Indore village, were returning home after attending a social gathering at a wedding hall when the accident occurred.

According to preliminary reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle shortly after leaving the venue. The car veered off the road and plunged into an open well located alongside the route.

Local authorities, including police, the Nagar Panchayat fire brigade, and disaster response teams, rushed to the scene after receiving information about the accident around 11 pm.

Rescue operations proved difficult due to darkness and the well being filled with water.

With the help of cranes and skilled swimmers, the submerged vehicle was eventually pulled out around 12:15 am. All nine occupants were found dead inside.

Police confirmed that the deceased included men, women, and children from the same family. The bodies were later shifted to a government hospital in Dindori for further procedures.

Officials said a case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
