Mumbai: After weeks of relentless humidity and lingering post-monsoon warmth, Mumbai is set to breathe easier this November.

Meteorologists predict a cooler and more comfortable month, marked by mild spells of rain, partly cloudy skies, and significantly lower humidity levels.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), maximum temperatures in the city are currently hovering around 33°C, while minimums remain close to 25°C — a few degrees below the usual seasonal average.

The IMD’s Santacruz observatory has forecast partly to generally cloudy skies through the week, with light to moderate rainfall in parts of the city.

Independent weather forecaster Rushikesh Agre, who runs the popular handle Mumbai Rains on X (formerly Twitter), noted that “this month will be cooler than past Novembers, with no major heating expected.”

He added that the city could experience cooler nights by the second week of November, as the influence of La Niña becomes more apparent.

La Niña’s Role and What It Means for Mumbai

The La Niña phenomenon — marked by cooler-than-usual ocean temperatures in the Pacific — often brings increased cyclonic activity and low-pressure systems over the Indian Ocean.

Agre explained that while Mumbai isn’t expected to see very heavy rainfall, the occasional showers and cloudy spells will help keep temperatures mild and air quality somewhat improved.

The IMD’s latest seven-day outlook shows no weather warnings, suggesting a stable and pleasant weather phase for the city.

Early mornings and evenings are expected to feel noticeably cooler, with sunrise around 6:39 am and sunset close to 6:05 pm.

For residents weary of Mumbai’s extended summer heat, this November offers a welcome reprieve — a short, soothing interlude before the onset of true winter.
