Airport check leads to arrest of former ‘Mrs Kerala’ contestant in over ₹11 crore cannabis haul

Mumbai: A 28-year-old model was arrested by Mumbai Customs after being found in possession of over 11 kg of high-quality hydroponic cannabis at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.
The accused, identified as Harsha Sunny, arrived in Mumbai from Bangkok on the night of 10–11 June on Air India flight TG-351, officials said.
According to Customs and Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) officials, Sunny was intercepted after her behaviour during routine surveillance raised suspicion. A subsequent search of her trolley bag led to the recovery of 12 vacuum-sealed packets containing a green-coloured substance.
A field test using a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) kit confirmed the substance to be hydroponic cannabis, with an estimated value of ₹11.82 crore in the illegal market.
Following the seizure, Sunny was arrested under provisions of the NDPS Act for alleged smuggling of narcotics.
Officials said Sunny, a former contestant of ‘Mrs Kerala 2025’, was produced before the Fort Court, which remanded her to judicial custody.
