3-storey chawl collapses in Mumbai’s Bandra East; 7 feared trapped, 12 rescued | WATCH

Mumbai: In a major accident early on Friday, a three-storey building collapsed in Bharat Nagar, Bandra East, Mumbai. The structure—identified as Chawl No. 37—came crashing down around 5:55 am, reportedly following a suspected cylinder blast inside the premises.

Initial reports indicate that at least seven people are feared trapped beneath the rubble, while twelve have already been rescued and admitted to Bhabha Hospital. Their conditions are yet to be officially confirmed.

Mumbai Police, the fire brigade, and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) teams are conducting rescue operations on a war footing. Eight fire engines and several emergency response units have been deployed.

Eyewitnesses in the area reported a loud explosion before the collapse, causing panic and confusion. Rescue efforts are ongoing, with officials urging residents not to believe or spread rumours.

The municipal administration has stated that a thorough investigation will be launched once search and rescue operations are completed.

The accident has left the locality shaken, with a large crowd gathering to support ongoing emergency efforts.
