MP’s son faces up to 5 years in prison after speeding Aston Martin hits woman in Hyderabad

The son of Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha MP Lingamaneni Ramesh has been booked after a woman was killed when a luxury car allegedly driven by him hit her in Hyderabad, police said on Thursday.
Bharati Mukhi, 26, a saleswoman at a mall, died after an Aston Martin allegedly driven by Lingamaneni Sanjush, 23, at high speed and in a negligent manner hit her while she was crossing the road in front of the mall on August 16.
Woman dies after being hit by car
Mukhi suffered a severe bleeding injury to her head in the accident. She was taken to a hospital in the same car, but doctors declared that she had already died, police said.
According to police, the accident took place when Mukhi was returning to the mall with a colleague after collecting food from a nearby hotel.
Case registered under BNS section
Following a complaint, Madhapur Police registered a case against Sanjush under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with causing death by negligence.
The provision carries a punishment of up to five years in prison and a fine.
A senior police official told PTI that Sanjush was not arrested because the offence is bailable. Police have served a notice on him, the official said.
Police investigation underway
Further investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway, police said.
Lingamaneni Ramesh is associated with the Jana Sena Party (JSP). There was no immediate response from the MP regarding the case.
