Amman (Jordan): India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi was personally driven by Jordan’s Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II to the Jordan Museum in Amman on Tuesday, highlighting the warmth of ties between the two countries during his official visit.

The Crown Prince accompanied Modi to the museum as part of the Prime Minister’s tightly scheduled programme in the Jordanian capital. The visit had earlier been outlined by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), which said Modi would tour the museum later in the day in the company of His Royal Highness.

Modi arrived in Amman on Monday, where he was received by Jordanian Prime Minister Jafar Hassan and accorded a formal welcome. He later met King Abdullah II at Al Husseiniya Palace, where the two leaders held detailed discussions on bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues of mutual interest.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Prime Minister was also scheduled to address the India–Jordan Business Forum, which brought together leading business representatives from both sides to explore avenues for enhanced economic cooperation.

Briefing the media, MEA Secretary (South) Dr Neena Malhotra said several memoranda of understanding and agreements had been finalised during the visit. These covered cooperation in areas including energy, digital technology, water management, culture and people-to-people exchanges.

Following the engagements, Modi described the outcomes of his Jordan visit as an important step in deepening bilateral ties. He said the wide-ranging agreements, spanning renewable energy to digital innovation, reflected the growing strength of the India–Jordan partnership.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said cooperation in new and renewable energy underscored a shared commitment to clean growth, energy security and climate responsibility, adding that both countries were working together to promote sustainable development while addressing global climate challenges.

On Monday, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had released details of the agreements reached during the visit. These included an MoU on technical cooperation in new and renewable energy, an MoU on water resources management and development, a twinning agreement between Petra and Ellora, the renewal of the Cultural Exchange Programme for 2025–29, and a letter of intent on cooperation in sharing population-scale digital solutions.

From Jordan, the Prime Minister will travel to Ethiopia for his first official visit to the African nation, before concluding the final leg of his tour in Oman.
