Minister’s brother slaps cop on duty; Viral video sparks outrage in Andhra Pradesh | VIDEO

A video showing the brother of Andhra Pradesh Roads and Buildings Minister BC Janardhan Reddy assaulting a police constable has gone viral, sparking political controversy and public outrage.
The incident took place at a temple in Kolimigundla, located in the state’s Nandyal district, where constable Jaswanth was on duty. According to reports, he stopped BC Madan Bhupal Reddy, the minister's brother, from entering a restricted area within the temple premises.
The situation quickly escalated into a verbal confrontation, during which Madan Reddy was caught on camera pushing and slapping the constable in full public view. The video has since gone viral on social media, drawing criticism from several quarters.
Political backlash and public condemnation
The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) condemned the incident, calling it an “open display of arrogance and lawlessness” and alleging that it reflects the behaviour of TDP leaders and their families under the current coalition government. In a post on X, the party criticised the lack of immediate action and accused the administration of using the police force as a political tool.
“This shameful act reflects the growing impunity enjoyed by those close to power, where even law enforcement officers are not spared,” the party stated.
Minister responds, promises unbiased action
Meanwhile, Minister BC Janardhan Reddy has publicly condemned his brother’s actions. He stated that no one is above the law and confirmed that he has instructed the police to take appropriate action, regardless of the person’s identity.
