Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh: Malayali CRPF personnel among 2 killed in encounter

Sukma: On Sunday, an IED blast planted by Naxalites claimed the lives of two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. The attack occurred between Silger and Tekulagudem, under the jurisdiction of Jagargunda Police Station. The fallen security personnel were identified as Vishnu R (35), hailing from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and Shailendra (29), from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Both were members of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) 201, a unit specialized in guerrilla and jungle warfare, focusing on the Maoist insurgency.
The incident took place at 3 PM while the jawans were on Road Opening Duty from Camp Silger to Camp Tekulagudem. The Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Naxalites detonated, resulting in their deaths.
In related developments, security forces discovered a large cache of fake currency notes and printing equipment belonging to the Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district. This discovery was made on Saturday evening on a forested hill near Korajguda village during a search operation conducted by a joint team of security personnel from various forces.
Additionally, on June 17, security forces in Jharkhand's Chaibasa killed four Naxals and arrested two others. Among those killed were a zonal commander, a sub-zonal commander, and an area commander. The two arrested Naxals also included an area commander. Various rifles of different calibers were recovered during this operation.
