Mahua Moitra files FIR over ‘fabricated’ leaked chats with Prashant Kishor on social media

Kolkata: TMC MP Mahua Moitra has filed FIRs against individuals and social media accounts accused of circulating what she described as “fabricated” leaked chats purportedly involving her and former political strategist Prashant Kishor.

In a post on X, Moitra said the chats being shared online were false and warned of legal action against those amplifying them. She also shared screenshots of several X handles against whom complaints have already been lodged. “Few of the handles against which FIRs were filed. Anyone else reposting/spreading fabricated news will face criminal proceedings,” she wrote.

The Trinamool Congress MP made it clear that the legal action would not be limited to those who initially circulated the alleged chats. She cautioned that FIRs would also be filed against individuals commenting on or reporting the purported messages, asserting that the content being shared was entirely fabricated.

Moitra’s move comes amid a flurry of social media activity around the alleged chats, with the MP insisting that the material has been created with malicious intent and vowing to pursue criminal proceedings against all those involved in spreading it.
