Commercial LPG price cut: 19-kg cylinder cheaper by Rs 183.50, 5-kg FTL also reduced

A sharp reduction in commercial LPG prices has brought welcome relief to restaurants, caterers and small businesses from July 1, with oil marketing companies cutting the rate of the widely used 19-kg cylinder by Rs 183.50. The latest revision lowers operating costs for thousands of commercial establishments that rely on LPG for daily operations, reversing part of the burden created by recent fuel price increases.

The revised rates came into effect on July 1, bringing down the retail price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi to Rs 2,930. Alongside the commercial cylinder price cut, oil companies have also reduced the price of the 5-kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder by Rs 13, taking its retail price in the national capital to Rs 808.50.

The reduction is expected to offer immediate financial relief to businesses in the hospitality and food services sector, where fuel expenses form a significant portion of operating costs. Restaurants, roadside eateries, catering units and other commercial establishments are among the biggest consumers of 19-kg LPG cylinders.

Commercial LPG prices see major correction

The latest cut comes after a period of frequent revisions in LPG rates. Commercial cylinder prices had witnessed multiple hikes earlier this year as global energy markets remained volatile amid geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

In April, oil marketing companies raised commercial LPG prices by Rs 195.50 across major metro cities. Following that increase, rates climbed to Rs 2,208 in Kolkata, Rs 2,031 in Mumbai and Rs 2,246.50 in Chennai.

Earlier in January, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 111, while the 5-kg Free Trade LPG cylinder became costlier by Rs 27.

Domestic LPG users saw higher prices recently

While commercial users are getting relief this month, domestic LPG consumers had faced a price increase in June. The cost of a standard 14.2-kg household LPG cylinder was raised by Rs 29, pushing the Delhi retail price to Rs 942 from Rs 913.

Before that, oil companies had implemented a Rs 60 increase in LPG cylinder prices in March as energy markets reacted to developments in West Asia.
