Love, lies, and murder: Wife accused of killing husband over secret affair
Samastipur, Bihar: A 30-year-old man was found brutally murdered inside his home in Samastipur district early Saturday morning, in what his family claims was a cold-blooded killing sparked by a sordid extramarital affair.
The deceased, Sonu Kumar, son of Tuntun Jha, was discovered lying in a pool of blood in his room at Laguniya Raghukanth village under Mufassil police station limits. The horrific discovery was made by his father, who claimed Sonu was last seen alive around midnight after returning from driving his auto-rickshaw. The prime suspect? His own wife.
According to the family, Sonu had long-standing marital troubles with his wife, Smita Jha. The tension reportedly worsened after Sonu caught her red-handed in a compromising situation with their children's tuition teacher, Hariom Kumar — a man from the same village.
“The tutor stopped coming for a while, but later resumed classes at my elder son's house. That reignited the conflict,” said Sonu's father, alleging that the affair was the root cause of his son’s murder.
On the night of the incident, Tuntun Jha said he found Smita sitting silently in a corner of the blood-stained room, while Sonu’s lifeless body bore visible injury marks, including around the neck, suggesting possible strangulation.
He further alleged that Smita did not act alone and may have been helped by two or three accomplices in executing the murder.
Police have taken Smita Jha into custody for questioning and registered a case of murder. Sonu’s body has been sent to Sadar Hospital for postmortem. “We are verifying the family's claims and investigating from all angles,” said a police official.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the village, with locals demanding a thorough and swift investigation.
