More flights to India soon: Kuwait Airways teams up with Indian Embassy for improved connectivity

Kuwait Airways has joined hands with the Indian Embassy in Kuwait to improve air connectivity between the two countries, with a focus on boosting tourism, trade, and passenger convenience. The partnership aims to make travel easier for passengers flying from major Indian cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Kochi. Travellers will benefit from smoother connections to Kuwait City, as well as better access to onward destinations in Europe and other parts of the world.
The initiative follows a high-level meeting between Kuwait Airways Chairman Abdulmohsen Salem Al-Fagaan and Indian Ambassador Paramita Tripathi. Acting CEO Abdulwahab Al-Shatti and other senior officials were also present.
Discussions focused on expanding both passenger and cargo operations. At present, Kuwait Airways operates direct flights from Kuwait International Airport to Mumbai, Delhi, and Kochi using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
Both sides are now exploring options to increase flight frequencies and introduce new routes, especially to secondary cities in India. Improving air cargo capacity is also a key priority, which will help speed up the movement of goods such as textiles, spices, and dates between the two countries.
The collaboration is expected to support Kuwait’s tourism sector by making travel more accessible and reducing journey times. Popular attractions such as the Grand Mosque and Souk Al-Mubarakiya, along with luxury hotels like The Ritz-Carlton Kuwait, are likely to attract more Indian visitors. Officials have also discussed simplifying visa procedures and launching joint promotional campaigns to position Kuwait as a convenient stopover destination.
The large Indian community in Kuwait estimated at over one million people continues to play an important role in maintaining strong travel demand between the two nations.
Kuwait Airways’ growth plans are backed by its modern fleet, with the airline set to introduce Airbus A350 aircraft in the coming years. This is expected to improve fuel efficiency and enhance passenger experience.
The airline aims to expand its overall network by up to 20 per cent by 2027, with India identified as a key market. While challenges such as airport slot constraints remain, both sides expressed confidence that these can be addressed through continued cooperation.
The partnership is expected to further strengthen economic and cultural ties between India and Kuwait, while offering passengers more seamless and efficient travel options.
