Night tragedy in Rajasthan: 3-storey building collapse in Kota leaves 2 dead

Jaipur: At least two people were killed and several others are feared trapped after a three-storey building collapsed in Rajasthan’s Kota on Saturday night, officials said.
The incident took place in the Talwandi area, where a restaurant was functioning inside the building at the time of the collapse. Police, fire brigade teams, and disaster response units rushed to the spot and launched an immediate rescue operation.
Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Madan Dilawar described the incident as a “major accident” and confirmed that two deaths had been reported so far. “Nine people were hospitalised. Four of them are still in the hospital, while around four have either shifted to a private hospital or gone home,” he said.
District Collector Piyush Samaria said rescue teams were deployed without delay after authorities received information about the collapse. “Five people have been rescued and shifted to the hospital so far. At this stage, it is not possible to confirm how many people are still trapped,” he added.
Local MLA Sandeep Sharma, who visited the site, said the building collapsed suddenly and there was a strong possibility that more people were buried under the rubble. “Rescue operations are underway and some people have been pulled out,” he said.
According to initial reports, several customers and staff members were present in the restaurant when the building collapsed. The cause of the collapse is currently under investigation.
