‘Beat me before parents, hid injuries with makeup’: Survivor on Kolkata influencer

A 22-year-old woman has lodged a serious complaint against popular Kolkata-based content creator Nonsane (real name Shamik Adhikari), accusing him of wrongful confinement, physical assault, intimidation, and sexual abuse.
The complaint was filed at Behala Police Station, following which the accused was arrested late on Thursday, February 5.
Police said Nonsane was produced before the Alipore court on Friday, February 6, where the complainant recorded a confidential statement. She later spoke to the media, narrating the alleged sequence of events in detail.
According to the complainant, she visited Nonsane’s residence on February 2, around 5 p,m after he informed her that he was shifting to a new flat. “His parents were present. He called me in a friendly manner and asked me to come and help,” she said.
She alleged that the situation escalated the following night when she attempted to book a cab around 9 pm as she had college the next day. “He suddenly snatched my phone and started checking it. He saw I was speaking to another content creator who is against him,” she claimed.
The woman alleged that Nonsane then dragged her into a room, locked it, and assaulted her. “He started beating me mercilessly. When his parents tried to intervene, he threatened to kill everyone or end his own life,” she said.
She further claimed that the assault caused injuries to her eyes, temporarily affecting her vision. Despite her condition, she alleged she was not allowed to leave the house the next morning. “He fell asleep next to me and instead forced physical relations on me,” she said, alleging sexual assault.
The complainant stated that she was eventually released after repeatedly pleading and promising not to inform anyone.
She further alleged that Nonsane arranged makeup for her online to conceal her injuries and that she returned home with her face covered with a mask. “He threatened to kill me if I contacted anyone,” she said.
As the incident surfaced shortly after the release of a controversial ‘Button’ video, speculation emerged online suggesting political influence or that the complaint was filed in exchange for money. The complainant strongly denied these claims.
“I am someone’s daughter, someone’s sister. There was also a mother in his house,” she said. “I don’t know how much money it would take for something like this. I have nothing to do with politics.”
Police said the matter is under investigation and further legal action will be based on medical reports, witness statements, and digital evidence.
