Kochi: Two alleged drug peddlers accused of supplying narcotics to people associated with the film industry have been arrested during a late-night raid in Kochi, police said on Thursday.

The accused have been identified as Amal George (33), a resident of Cheranalloor, and Abhijith (25), a native of Vadakkekara.

According to police, the duo were arrested during a midnight raid carried out by the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF) at their rented apartment in Cheranalloor.

During the search, officers seized 14.63 grams of MDMA from their possession.

Police alleged that the two had been supplying the synthetic drug not only to people working in the film industry but also to medical professionals in Kochi.

Investigators said both men had previously been involved in narcotics-related cases and had been under police surveillance.

The accused's mobile phones have been seized as part of the investigation, with officers now working to identify those who allegedly purchased drugs from them.

A case has been registered at the Cheranalloor Police Station, and the two accused are expected to be produced before a court for remand proceedings.
