‘Khalistan’ threat? Bomb scare at Delhi High Court, IGI Terminal 3 and other locations

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court, Indira Gandhi International Airport and several other locations in the national capital received bomb threats on Friday.

The threats were issued through an email, which claimed that several locations in Delhi would be targeted. The email was reportedly sent in the name of Khalistan and threatened to carry out explosions across the city.

According to the email, as reported by NDTV, the Delhi High Court was allegedly to be targeted at 2:11 pm on Saturday, followed an hour later by blasts at district courts. The threat claimed the attacks were linked to cases being heard in Delhi courts.

The email also claimed that members of Khalistan, a separatist movement seeking an independent sovereign state for Sikhs called Khalistan, had reached Delhi.

Six locations were specifically named in the threat: Jamnagar House, the Jhandewalan building, the Saket office, the District Magistrate’s Office, IGI Airport Terminal 3 and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Office in Delhi Cantt.

The threat email also warned of possible attacks targeting the Delhi Metro and trains bound for Ambala.

The threats come ahead of Independence Day celebrations in the capital, prompting security agencies to take the matter seriously.
