Hyderabad MLC office Attack

Hyderabad: Tensions escalated at Telangana MLC Teenmaar Mallanna’s office in Medipally on Sunday when his gunman opened fire in the air to control a mob of Telangana Jagruthi activists who stormed the premises. The protest was reportedly sparked by Mallanna's alleged derogatory remarks against BRS MLC K. Kavitha, daughter of former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).

According to sources, the protestors entered the MLC’s office, smashed furniture, shattered window panes, and allegedly physically assaulted staff members. The group raised slogans condemning Mallanna and attempted to enter his private chamber. In response to the escalating violence, Mallanna’s security personnel fired five rounds into the air to disperse the crowd.

Mallanna, who was present at the office during the attack, reportedly sustained a hand injury during the scuffle. Television footage from the scene showed blood stains inside the office, but the number of injured people remains unconfirmed.

The Telangana Jagruthi, the cultural wing of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) led by MLC K. Kavitha, organised the protest following Mallanna’s comments questioning her connection to backwards classes. His remarks were made in response to celebrations over the Telangana government's ordinance to raise reservations for backwards classes to 42% in local bodies.

Controversies surrounding Teenmaar Mallanna

Mallanna, whose real name is Chintapandu Naveen, is no stranger to controversy. Known for his outspoken views and confrontational style, he was suspended by the Congress party earlier this year for anti-party behaviour, including tearing up the BC caste survey report and using inflammatory language against the state government.

He originally gained public attention in 2021 when he contested the graduate MLC elections from Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam as an independent candidate, finishing second to BRS's Palla Rajeshwar Reddy. He later joined the BJP in December 2021 before switching to the Congress in 2023, under which he won the MLC seat in a 2024 by-election.

Over the years, Mallanna has faced multiple legal cases, particularly during the BRS regime, for his frequent attacks on KCR and his family members through his YouTube news channel, QNews.
