Hyderabad: Kalvakuntla Kavitha launched her new political party formally, ‘Telangana Praja Jagruthi’, on Saturday morning at Muneerabad in Medchal-Malkajgiri district, marking a significant shift in Telangana’s political landscape.

Before the launch, a happy Kavitha was seen paying floral tributes at Amaraveerula Stupam before launching her new political party today.

The launch event is scheduled for 10 am at a specially prepared venue named Prof Jayashankar Grounds, spread across the expansive Adhya Convention Centre premises.

Party insiders say elaborate arrangements have been completed to host thousands of supporters and leaders expected to attend the inaugural meeting.

Kavitha, daughter of K Chandrasekhar Rao, had recently resigned from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and her Legislative Council membership following reported differences with the party leadership.

Her decision to float a new party signals a clear attempt to carve out an independent political identity.

Sources revealed that the party name had been registered nearly two months ago, indicating that the groundwork for this move had been underway for some time.

Before the launch, Kavitha is expected to pay homage to Telangana martyrs at Gun Park, followed by a large rally at the venue.

The event venue has been symbolically designed to reflect Telangana’s cultural and political heritage.

The main entrance is named after Kaloji Narayana Rao, while other gates honour icons like Rani Rudrama Devi, Maroju Veeranna, and Chakali Ilamma.

Dining halls at the venue are dedicated to noted personalities such as Suravaram Pratap Reddy, Sammakka Saralamma Jatara, and Shoaibullah Khan.

Notably, Kavitha had earlier founded Telangana Jagruthi during the statehood movement, and her new political outfit appears to draw inspiration from that legacy as she re-enters the political arena with a renewed strategy.
