Patna (Bihar): A controversy has erupted after a temple was cleansed with Ganga water following a visit by Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar. The incident took place at the Bhagwati Sthan Durga Temple at Bangao in Saharsa district of Bihar. Kanhaiya Kumar is currently holding rallies in Bihar with the slogan “Stop migration, Provide jobs.” The Congress party has strongly reacted to the incident.

During his rally in Bihar, Kanhaiya visited the temple on Tuesday night. He also addressed the public from the temple premises, speaking from the mandap (pavilion). The following day, a group of individuals allegedly cleaned the mandap. The cleaning was led by Amit Chaudhary, the councillor of Bangao ward under the Nagar Panchayat. According to them, they used Ganga water to purify the area.

The group claimed that Kanhaiya Kumar spoke against the nation and that he delivered his speech from the temple’s sanctum. Footage of the temple cleansing has surfaced. While Kanhaiya Kumar has not yet responded to the controversy, the Congress party has condemned the act.

With Bihar set to hold assembly elections soon, the incident has sparked a fresh political row in the state.
