Fire breaks out at Punjabi Tadka restaurant in Delhi; elderly woman rescued

New Delhi: A 70-year-old woman was rescued by firefighters after a major fire broke out at a restaurant in southeast Delhi’s Kalkaji area in the early hours of Sunday, according to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS).

The fire erupted at the ‘Punjabi Tadka’ restaurant near the Kalkaji–Govindpuri flyover, with emergency services receiving the alert at around 4.45am.

Officials said the blaze affected a building comprising a basement, ground floor, and three upper floors, along with a temporary structure on the terrace. The situation was further aggravated after three commercial LPG cylinders exploded during the fire.

A total of nine fire tenders were deployed to the scene, and the fire was brought under control by around 5.40am. During subsequent search and rescue operations, DFS personnel rescued 70-year-old Sita Devi from the second floor of an adjoining building. She was reported to be in a stable condition.

No casualties were reported in the incident.

Firefighters continued cooling operations at the site, while the cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation.
