Kalaburagi Airport upgrades Bengaluru daily flight with 76-seater aircraft; eyes Mumbai connection next

Kalaburagi Airport, in Karnataka’s Kalyana Karnataka region, has taken a big step forward in improving air travel. The airport has upgraded its daily service to Bengaluru with a larger aircraft, making it easier for people to travel between the two cities.

Star Air is now operating the route with a 76-seater Embraer E-175, replacing the earlier 50-seater aircraft. The change was made after authorities noticed that the smaller plane was running at almost full capacity, with occupancy rates of around 92–95% last year. The extra seats are expected to meet the rising demand from both business and leisure travellers.

The new schedule also makes travel much more convenient. The flight now departs from Kalaburagi at 6 am and reaches Bengaluru by 11:40 am. The return flight leaves Bengaluru at 12:10 pm and arrives in Kalaburagi by lunchtime. This means passengers no longer have to stay overnight in Bengaluru. Business meetings, official work, or academic activities can now be completed in a single day.

Airport officials are also planning to expand services to other major cities, starting with Mumbai. Discussions are already underway with different airlines, and the authorities are confident that more routes will be added soon.

The local business community has welcomed the upgraded service. Local entrepreneurs and educational institutions also believe the new flights will make it easier for people to travel for conferences, interviews, and other activities, helping the region grow.

With these changes, Kalaburagi is positioning itself as a key regional gateway. The city, already strong in agriculture and industry, is now aiming to strengthen its presence on Karnataka’s economic map through better air, road, and rail connectivity.

The 76-seater daily flight to Bengaluru is just the beginning. With plans to connect more cities and improved infrastructure in the pipeline, Kalaburagi is set to emerge as a regional travel hub.
