6 reasons why Hemant Soren stormed Jharkhand once again

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren once again cemented his reputation as a political strategist, leading the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led INDI alliance to a decisive victory in the state assembly elections.
Brushing aside allegations of corruption and appeasement, Soren's leadership delivered a sweeping win, defying exit polls that had forecasted an advantage for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Let us take a look at the key factors behind Hemant Soren's victory
1) Women Voters
The Maiya Samman Yojna emerged as a game-changer, resonating strongly with women voters. This year saw a 4% increase in female voter turnout, which played a decisive role in the JMM's success.
2) Kalpana Soren
Adding to the momentum was Kalpana Soren, Hemant's wife, who became an unexpected X-factor. Though a political novice, her grassroots outreach at the block level connected deeply with women voters, amplifying the alliance's appeal.
3) Sympathy Wave
Despite the BJP’s corruption allegations and attacks from central investigative agencies, Soren successfully cast himself as a victim of political vendetta, emphasizing his status as a tribal leader targeted unfairly by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The JMM capitalized on this narrative, portraying the BJP-led central government as "anti-tribal," which resonated with voters in tribal-dominated regions.
4) Strength of Alliance Partners
Apprehensions about the Congress being the weak link in the INDI alliance were proven wrong. The Congress secured 14 seats, surpassing expectations, and even won urban BJP bastions like Bokaro. A near-perfect strike rate by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and a strong performance by Left parties further bolstered the alliance.
5) The Infiltration Bogie
The BJP accused Soren of appeasing illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, particularly in the Santhal Pargana region. However, Soren turned the tables by questioning the central government's failure to secure international borders, a narrative that resonated with voters. The JMM retained its stronghold in Santhal Pargana, indicating that the immigration issue failed to sway tribal sentiments.
6) Containing Internal Challenges
The defection of Champai Soren, a key JMM leader, to contest from Saraikela could have caused significant damage. However, Hemant Soren managed to minimize its impact. While Champai won his seat, he was unable to create a wave against the JMM in his stronghold, ensuring the alliance's dominance.
