Sexual abuse case: JD(S) leader Suraj Revanna remanded in CID custody till July 1

Bengaluru: A court here on Monday remanded JD(S) MLC Suraj Revanna, who has been arrested in connection with a case of alleged sexual abuse of a man, in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) till July one.
On Sunday night, the CID presented him before the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court (ACMM), where he was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.
After receiving the case file, the CID approached the court on Monday to request his custody for continued investigation.
A 27-year-old man had filed a complaint alleging that Suraj Revanna, the eldest son of Holenarasipura MLA H D Revanna, sexually assaulted him at a farmhouse in Ghannikada on June 16.
Based on the complaint, Holenarasipura police registered a case against the JD(S) MLC under IPC Sections 377 (unnatural offences), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) late on Saturday evening.
Suraj Revanna's arrest comes days after his younger brother and former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna was remanded to judicial custody by a special court in Bengaluru over separate allegations of sexually assaulting multiple women.
He was sent to judicial custody for 14 days by the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Court on June 10. (With inputs from agencies)
