Jamnagar: A Jaguar fighter jet belonging to the Indian Air Force crashed on Wednesday night near the Jamnagar IAF station in Gujarat during a training exercise. While one pilot managed to eject safely, the other remains unaccounted for, according to police officials.

The aircraft went down in an open field in Suvarda village, located around 12 km from Jamnagar city, and subsequently caught fire, said District Superintendent of Police Premsukh Delu. The reason for the crash is yet to be determined.

"While one pilot safely ejected before the crash, another one is still missing. The aircraft caught fire after the crash landing. Police and firefighters have rushed to the spot and started searching for the missing pilot," Delu stated.

Emergency response teams, including police personnel and firefighters, have been deployed to the crash site as search efforts continue.
