On the eve of the 77th Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu said India is the world's fastest-growing major economy and is steadily moving toward its goal of becoming the third-largest economy globally, despite global uncertainties.

Addressing the nation, President Murmu highlighted that India’s continuous economic growth is being driven by large-scale investments in world-class infrastructure, guided by the principles of self-reliance (atmanirbharata) and swadeshi initiatives.

"By investing in the creation of world-class infrastructure, we are rebuilding our economic strength at a much larger scale," she said, emphasising that India is shaping its economic destiny through indigenous capabilities.

President Murmu also spotlighted key economic reforms, describing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as the most significant step toward economic integration since Independence, establishing the framework of “One Nation, One Market.” She added that recent efforts to make the GST system more efficient would further strengthen the economy.

The President also spoke about the importance of labour reforms, noting that the government’s four new Labour Codes are designed to benefit workers while accelerating enterprise development across sectors.

Speaking on the significance of Republic Day, President Murmu called on citizens to strengthen their patriotic spirit and work together with the resolve of “Nation First” to make the Republic more glorious. She extended greetings to all Indians, expressing confidence that their lives would be filled with happiness, peace, security, and harmony.
