India's COVID-19 cases have surged, with total active infections reaching 5,755 as of 8 am on June 7. Kerala leads the tally with 1,806 active cases, followed by Delhi with 665 cases and Maharashtra with 577. The state reported 127 new infections in the past 24 hours, contributing significantly to the national tally.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Kerala is currently leading in active COVID-19 cases in India, with 1,806 reported cases.

The World Health Organisation has identified new subvariants LF.7 and NB.1.8.1 as Variants Under Monitoring, which may be contributing to the rising infections in Kerala and other states. The central government has issued advisories to states and union territories to ensure the availability of essential medical supplies, including oxygen and life-saving medications.
