New Delhi: Passengers could soon travel in style as Indian Railways unveils its next-generation Amrit Bharat coaches. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday inspected sample coaches at New Delhi station, showcasing fresh interior designs that promise comfort, safety, and a modern look.

The new coaches feature carefully chosen colour schemes for every corner, from soft grey PVC flooring to soft seat and berth rexine, coordinated curtains, and matching snack tables. Even the lavatory areas have been redesigned with elegant, easy-to-clean finishes.

Officials say the design is meant to create a uniform, modern look while remaining durable and easy to maintain. The materials meet HL3 fire safety standards, ensuring passengers travel safely as well as comfortably.

How will the changes affect you?

Seats & berths: Softer, visually appealing rexine with coordinated colours.

Flooring: Grey PVC flooring that’s both durable and easy to clean.

Curtains & tables: Matching colour accents that make cabins look bright and organised.

Lavatories: Modern finishes with colours that make spaces feel cleaner and fresher.

These changes aim to make travel more pleasant and relaxing, whether on a short trip or a long journey.

Alongside the new interiors, Indian Railways is strengthening its digital backbone. A major project worth ₹398.36 crore will install 4x48 Optical Fibre Cables across Ahmedabad and Ratlam divisions, supporting modern signalling systems like Kavach, which prevents train collisions and ensures smoother operations.
