The Indian Army marked a major logistics achievement on 16 December 2025 by inducting tanks and artillery guns into the Kashmir Valley using a Military Special Train. As part of a validation exercise, heavy military equipment, including tanks, artillery pieces and dozers, was successfully transported from the Jammu region to Anantnag in Kashmir.

The operation demonstrated enhanced mobility and strengthened logistical capability, highlighting the Army’s improved preparedness along the Northern Borders. The milestone was achieved in close coordination with the Ministry of Railways, reflecting the growing synergy between defence and civilian infrastructure.

Officials said the movement underlined the transformative role of the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, which has significantly improved rapid logistics build-up and operational readiness in the region.
