Today, November 27, 2025, Chennai prepares for heavy rainfall as a Bay of Bengal low-pressure system strengthens, Mumbai faces hazardous air quality, Bengaluru enjoys mild temperatures with partly cloudy skies, and Delhi experiences a cold morning with gradual improvement in air quality.

Chennai: Heavy rain alerts issued

  • A well-marked low-pressure system over the southwest Bay of Bengal is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu this weekend.
  • Alerts: Yellow alerts for south coastal and delta districts including Ramanathapuram and Thanjavur; orange and yellow alerts for Ariyalur and Cuddalore.
  • Rainfall forecast: Widespread rainfall is likely by Saturday, with northern districts receiving up to 21 cm of rain.
  • Impact: The rainfall may help reduce the season’s rain deficit. Seasonal totals have now reached 34.8 cm, slightly above the October 1–November 26 average of 33.5 cm.
  • Authorities continue to monitor the system and may update alerts if it intensifies into a deep depression.

Mumbai: Air quality deteriorates to hazardous levels

  • Mumbai’s air quality has sharply worsened due to dense fog, construction dust, and toxic particles.
  • AQI: Malad West 308, Borivali East 303, citywide AQI 198.
  • Health impact: Equivalent to inhaling smoke from six cigarettes a day.
  • BMC measures: 27 guidelines enforced for builders; online notices issued to violators. Stage I and II pollution curbs remain in effect.
  • Residents are advised to limit outdoor exposure and monitor AQI updates.

Bengaluru: Partly cloudy skies, mild temperatures

  • Bengaluru will experience a largely dry Thursday with partly cloudy skies, mild daytime temperatures, and cool mornings and evenings.
  • Temperature: Daytime highs around 28°C, evenings around 19°C, with moderate humidity at 73%.
  • Air quality: Moderate, with AQI ranging from 76 to 150. Gentle winds will help disperse pollutants.
  • Weather pattern: Most of Karnataka will see dry, sunny conditions. Rainfall chances in Bengaluru remain low over the next week.

Delhi: Cold mornings, improving air quality

  • Delhi is witnessing a winter chill, especially in late-night and early-morning hours.
  • Temperature: Minimum 13–15°C, maximum 22–23°C, cooling to 17–19°C by evening. Real-feel around 30°C in early afternoon.
  • Air quality: AQI recently at 327, with Stage III GRAP restrictions withdrawn. Stage I and II restrictions continue.
  • Advisory: Citizens should follow curbs at construction sites and monitor AQI updates.

From heavy rains in Chennai to hazardous pollution in Mumbai, mild Bengaluru weather, and cold Delhi mornings, India’s major cities face varied weather conditions today. Residents are advised to follow official updates from the IMD and municipal authorities to stay safe.
